Telephone Calls:

During office hours: our staff is available to help you.  We ask them to take detailed messages so that most questions can be answered quickly.  If you'd prefer to speak directly with your doctor, messages will be returned by the end of the day.  Emergencies will be responded to at once.

After hours and when the office is closed there is always a doctor available for emergencies or to help with a sick child.

        a) EMERGENCY: If this is a true emergency, dial 911.  Otherwise, if you urgently need to speak with us, when the voice mail answers press 1, nummerically enter your phone number, press # and then hang up.  If you do not receive a call within 15 minutes, please page again. If there is still no response from us, please go to the nearest emergency room.  Rarely, voice mail is down or you may have entered the phone number incorrectly, if the situation does not warrant a trip to the ER, you may leave a message in
mailbox  3.

        b) SICK CHILD CALLS:  When voice mail answers, press 3 to leave a message for the doctor on call.  If you do not receive a call back, within 1 1/2 hours, please page us even though it is not an emergency.
         c)  After 10 PM, press 1 to page the doctor on call as you would for an emergency.

Please call us either before or on your way to an urgent care or emergency room, so that we can be involved in the decision making and planning for you child's care.

In accordance with our office policy, there may be a charge for phone calls and medication refills.

Allow 24 hours for medication refills.

Some medications can not be refilled without periodic interval evaluations in accordance with established guidelines.

Prescription Refills:

We request parents or our adult patients call the office themselves..  We care about you and need to touch base with you to be sure all is well before refilling a prescription.  Therefore, we can not accept requests from a pharmacy without first speaking with you.

Prenatal Visits:

What better way to begin a long term relationship?  We welcome and appreciate your willingness to share some of your time with us.  We want you to feel at home and part of the Grove Pediatrics Family.  The prenatal visit allows time for us to answer your questions and share our values with you.

Newborn visits:

The newborn is so vulnerable, changing so quickly, developing so rapidly, it's no wonder that this little person generates so much wonder, so much concern, so many questions.  We love our roles as doctor and teacher.  For these reasons, we'll see a lot of you and your child in the first year.  After our first visit, our scheduled visits are monthly for the first 6 months, and then at 8, 10, and 12 months of age.  Getting time off for good behavior, the next visits are at 15 and 18 months and 2 and 2 1/2 years of age

Sports Physicals:

Why don't we believe in sports physicals?  Because sports physicals are limited once-over screenings prone to problems of gloss overs and often not even performed by a Physician.  We believe a child needs a thorough comprehensive yearly health status evaluation,  See periodic health maintenance evaluations below.

Periodic health maintenence evaluations / annual well child physicals:

During our time together, we'll discuss your child's health including growth and developmental milestone screening to monitor your child's progress through the stages of development, and anticipatory guidance, to help prepare you for your child's next steps. We'll go over the immunizations and any recommended testing.  We'll also discuss a healthy lifestyle for your child including age appropriate nutrition, healthy food choices, physical activities and we're always ready to answer your questions and address your concerns.

Help with Insurance:

Who doesn't need help with getting maximum reimbursement from their insurance carrier?  We''ll do our best to help get you through the maze.  Please be kind to our staff as they don't make the rules and hopefully understand that your insurance is a way to reimburse you, and not us, for your doctor and medical expenses.

Your benefits depend on a number of factors, including:

  • Covered services and benefits, specific to your plan. .As hard as it is, we urge your to read your benefits package to avoid surprises.
  • Deductibles and co-insurance.
  • Co-pays, which need to be paid at the time of service.
  • Maximum allowable benefits for specific services, e.g. well child care or immunizations
